Carina Heights is a suburb in Brisbane, located 7 km from the CBD. It was named after the nearby suburb of Carina, from which it officially split in 1975. Carina was named after an estate built by Ebenezer Thorne, who named the property after his daughter, Kate Carina.
Carina Heights is quiet community with natural bushland and wildlife. It is like living in the country but still close the city and within walking distance to everything, from shops, restaurants and other facilities.
There is a wide range of housing styles in the area, from workers cottages, traditional Queenslanders, post-war chamferboard homes and modern brick and tile houses.
The suburb is bordered by Camp Hill, Carina, Carindale, Holland Park and Mount Gravatt East.
LEISURE AND SHOPPING
Good local shops can be found on Stanley Road and on Old Cleveland Road. For bigger shopping trips, the closest shopping mall is Carindale Westfield.
Carina Heights offers a number of parks – Anzac Road Park, Buckley Street Park, Gaffney Street Park, Jones Road Park, Olivia Drive Park, Whatmore Street Park and Willard Street Park. They have playgrounds, bikeways, bushland and basketball half-court.
